Yield saves each folder you import to Tonbo after every turn of your agent. Such a folder is a Project. On another computer you bring it back into a folder: its files, their history, and what your agent did there lately. It takes two moves: open a folder in your agent, then ask your agent to bring the project in.
Before you leave the first computer
Nothing to do for a folder you already imported: it is saved after each turn. Not sure which folders those are? Ask your agent:
Which of my folders on this computer are not saved to Tonbo yet?It lists the folders your agents worked in on this computer lately that are not imported, by the names your agent app shows, and asks which to import. Each folder becomes a project of its own. Before anything is uploaded it names big files and files that look secret, such as .env, and asks you about them.
A change you made yourself after the agent’s last turn is saved at the next turn. To save it now, ask your agent to “save this folder to Tonbo now”.
Open a folder on the other computer
Sign in to Yield there with the same account (Start). Then open, in your agent, the folder the work should go into:
- In the Codex App, add a workspace and choose a new, empty folder, such as
notes-appin your Code folder. - In Claude Code, make the folder and start Claude Code in it.
- If this computer already has a copy of the project, open that copy instead: it is brought up to date.
Yield works only in the folder you opened. It never makes a folder you did not ask for, and it never fills your home folder.
Bring the project in
In a chat in that folder, ask:
Bring notes-app here. Not sure of its name? Ask “which projects can I bring here?”: your agent lists your projects and says which ones this computer already has. What happens next depends on what the folder holds:
| The folder holds | What happens |
|---|---|
| Nothing | It is filled with the project’s latest files and their history. |
| A copy of the project, unchanged | It is brought up to date. |
| A copy of the project, with changes of yours | Your changes are saved first, then the latest is merged in. When the same lines changed on both computers, your agent works it out, and asks you only when it can’t tell which to keep. |
| Other files | Your agent asks you first. With your yes, the project goes in beside them; a file of yours is never overwritten. |
| Another project | Nothing happens: open a different folder for this one. |
From then on the folder is a copy of the project too: it is saved after each turn, and you can bring what you did here to the next computer the same way.
What comes along
- The files as they were last saved, including changes you had not committed.
- Their history: the commits you made, so the project’s log reads the same on both computers. A folder outside git gets the history of its saves.
- A list of the project’s recent chats, so your agent can read what you were doing and pick up where you stopped.
What doesn’t
- The chat itself. Codex and Claude Code can’t resume a chat from another computer; your agent reads the recent ones instead.
- Files you kept on the first computer when you imported the folder: big files you chose to leave out, files that look secret (such as
.envand keys) unless you chose to include them, and anything over 100 MB. - In a folder outside git, what Yield leaves out by itself:
node_modules, build outputs, virtual environments, caches and.DS_Store. Your agent reinstalls dependencies as usual. In a git folder,.gitignoredecides. - Changes on the first computer after its last save.
- Your teammates’ chats. A team project brings its files; what each person typed stays theirs (What your team sees).
When your agent stops and asks
| Your agent says | What to do |
|---|---|
| This is your home folder | Open or create a folder for the project. Yield never fills your home folder or a system folder. |
| This folder already holds another project | A folder belongs to one project. Open a different folder. |
| This computer already has a copy | Nothing is wrong: you may have meant to work in that one. |
| This folder holds several projects | Import each one on its own. A folder of projects works better as several projects. |
| A copy was moved or deleted | If you moved it, open it in its new place and your agent reconnects it. If you deleted it, ask your agent to forget it. |
| Nothing is saved for that work yet | Its files are only on the first computer. There, ask your agent to save the folder to Tonbo now, then try again here. |
Your agent does all this with yield projects, yield pull <Project> and the other commands in the reference; the Agent guide says what it knows.
